Change The Nameservers On Your Domain

The default settings for NameBright nameservers are:

ns1.namebrightdns.com

ns2.namebrightdns.com

When you set up your website to a hosting provider, it will be necessary to update the nameserver details associated with your domain name. This ensures that your domain directs to the new hosting location. Your hosting provider will supply you with the necessary nameserver settings.

To change the nameservers on your domain:

  1. Once you are logged in, navigate to My Domains.

  2. Select a domain.

  3. Within the Nameservers section, click Manage Nameservers.

  4. Select a Nameserver and click Edit to update the Nameserver.

Add Custom Nameservers

If your webhost asked you to use their nameservers, do not use this option.

Custom nameservers are only to be used for advanced configurations of your domain. Use custom nameservers only if you are creating your own nameservers and hosting them on your own.

When you set up a custom nameserver you are essentially providing your own DNS resolution: We will create a nameserver in the root, and you will then be the authority to respond to DNS requests.

If you want to use your own nameserver, but not provide the software, point the IP address to one of our DNS server’s IP addresses and we will serve your host records for you.

To add custom nameservers to your domain:

  1. Once you are logged in, navigate to My Domains.

  2. Select a domain.

  3. Within the Nameservers section, click Manage Nameservers.

  4. Click Add Custom Nameserver.

  5. Enter your information and click Add Nameserver.
