How Email Forwarding Works

Our free email forwarding feature allows you to create personalized email addresses for a domain that automatically sends email to other email addresses of your choice.

  • You cannot send email from an email forward.

  • You cannot have two way communications through an email forward.

  • If you respond to an email, it will come from your actual email address, and not the email forward.

  • There is no inbox for a forwarding account, and nothing is stored.

NameBright offers two levels of Email Forwarding:

  1. Domain Level Email Forwards  Specify a specific email address which forwards to another email address. For instructions on how to set an Email Forward on a domain click here.

  2. Category Level Email Forwards With categories, you can create a category level email forward. Set the rule once, it will apply to every domain within the category. For example: info@[every domain in the category] will forward to the email address you specify.  For instructions on how to set an Email Forward on a category click here.

Wildcards *

The wildcard email address is the account's catch-all address. This means that any email sent to your domain that is not yet set up to be an email account or an email alias will be sent to the wildcard address for your account. This allows you to catch any emails sent to the misspelled email address.

If you want to create a wildcard address simply use an asterisk (*) in the "Forward From" address when you create your email forward.
